September Backyard Bliss

I have chosen my first blog to be of a fantastic backyard wedding I coordinated in September. This Bride and Groom have the personalities to match their good looks (yes, I went there) so it was truly a joy to assist them on their wedding day. Watching them take their wedding photos was absolutely beautiful because they weren't posing - that is the normal for them. It almost makes you feel like you are invading on a private moment but you can't help but continue to stare in amazement of how much these two care for each other.

On the day of the wedding, the forecast called for rain. Rain we can handle, no problem. By late morning, the forecast was calling for heavy rain and strong winds. OK, maybe a bit more difficult but not impossible. The ceremony was set for 5:00p and around 3:30p, not only did the weather prediction come true but a tornado actually touched down in the next town over. Needless to say, it was a bit hectic setting up after the tornado warning but Sara and her parents have repeated time and again how fortunate they were to have me there. They did not have to worry about anything as I was in charge and a tornado warning was no match for me! A few last minute decisions, including a change to a standing ceremony so we could continue the ceremony outside during a rain break, helped this wedding not only start on time but continue the beautiful evening with no interruptions. I bet the guests couldn't even tell you it wasn't the original plan.

I must give credit where credit is due and I cannot tell you enough how much the other vendors rocked. Julie Napear Photography was amazing, per usual. Her unique and detailed eye not only provided the traditional photography shots but included many candid photos that are frame worthy. There is no doubt Sara and Michael will have a difficult time choosing their favorite photos from the day. Kim from Six Star Catering presented a delicious food display that was talked about the entire night - and I'm sure is still being talked about today. The selections were varied to meet every pallet and the presentation was impeccable. Kim's delicious spread was not only the thing to brag about but her staff were extremely polite and helpful and catered to not only the bride and groom's needs, but to every guest. J.D., from The DJ Connection, made for an excellent emcee and kept the dance floor packed the entire night. I think they may have even gone a little over "end time" because the guests just didn't want to stop dancing. Last, but not least, the flowers. Sara's mom worked with Bluebells to coordinate the flowers. They were stunning and simple and couldn't have fit the feel of the wedding more perfect. Absolutely beautiful!

Working with Sara and Michael, along with their parents and families, was an absolutely fantastic experience and I was so fortunate they picked me to be a part of their special day.
